Future Cities Laboratory Global (FCL) is an urban research institution between ETH Zurich, Singapore’s universities (NUS, NTU, SUTD), and the National Research Foundation. They partnered with us to communicate complex design insights through accessible and visually engaging content. This culminated in the curation of an exhibition design and programming, crafting strategic content to promote their 2025 symposium across digital and physical platforms.

The main goal of this design engagement was to convert research and institutional language into public-facing narratives without losing academic integrity. Beyond FCL’s dominant yellow colour scheme, we wanted to introduce a new set of brand colours for the exhibition itself, giving it an identity of its own.

There was a need to infuse the element of approachability in presenting academic content, in order to successfully educate the masses and democratise access to information. Blue, green and dark reds were chosen to represent each module cluster, creating a visually engaging exhibition experience. The usage of the International Typographic System is especially evident in typography and layout selection to present information in a logical, hierarchical format.

The installation transitioned from digital presentation to physical exhibition space at one of Singapore's prominent design venues, marking a significant change in spatial engagement. The manifesto wall served as the primary point of entry, rendered in bright yellow and positioned within the visitor's immediate sightline. Themes of climate, systems, and urban futures were established at the outset.

This project was a reminder that beyond aesthetics, design is about translation, clarity, and responsibility. Seeing our work operate at architectural scale, sit beside real research, and guide real human movement changed how we think about what a design studio can be. FCL trusted us with their story, and we built the framework to help people see it.
